What are the benefits to having cold showers?

I've read Tony Robbins takes cold showers and actually a host of other hard working entrepreneurs says it does wonders for them. Is it all about breaking out of your comfort zone and stepping out like a warrior, or having better skin, hair and nails? Here are some benefits to taking cold showers:

Here’s why taking cold showers is good for so many people:

Alertness

Many of us start our day feeling groggy, tired and miserable! It’s not conducive to productivity nor for a positive mindset to have a great day ahead. But a cold shower can make a huge difference as it triggers a release of adrenaline and norepinephrine, accelerating your heart rate and encouraging blood-flow to the brain. This can quickly wake you up and increase your energy levels so that you can start your day in a manner that’s productive.

Discipline

A disciplined mindset is about sometimes doing things that you don’t want to do - forcing yourself to work when all you want to do is to relax, ignoring the chocolate in the fridge and going to the gym and resisting the ‘snooze’ button!

Taking a cold shower takes discipline and staying under it takes even more self-control. But if you have the discipline to take a cold shower then how much easier is it to make yourself do some extra work or chores you don’t want to do? Taking cold showers gives you the discipline and a resolute frame of mind. Did you know that when Hugh Jackman was first cast as Wolverine in X-Men, he used cold showers in order to get into the feral mindset of the character?

Health

Cold showers are actually good for you! In addition to the increased blood flow and alertness already described, they can strengthen your heart and immune system by making them work harder … and guys cold showers even increase sperm count (apparently!) They also burn calories! Cold showers also increase your metabolism and burn energy as your body tries to stay warm.

Are you up to the challenge? Me...I'm too cold to decide. Let me know how you get on!
